Brian Witherspoon Interview 5.16.2011

This interview was conducted with Brian Witherspoon on May 16th, 2011 and was facilitated by ETL Associates.

Giants 101: "I'm Sure you took note of the Giants taking both Jerrel Jernigan and Da’Rel Scott in the draft. Do you think the competition at the kick returner spot will bring out the best in you?"

Brian Witherspoon: "Yea I think competition brings out the best in everybody. I’ve proven myself as a kick returner in the league; hopefully I can do that for the Giants. Like I said though I think competition brings out the best in everybody."

Giants 101: "With the lockout set it enter its 4th month have you thought about track full time?"

Brian Witherspoon: "I thought about it just for conditioning purposes, but I’m a football player all the way."

Giants 101: "What was your first impression when you walked into the Giants facility for the first time?"

Brian Witherspoon: "Very first class organization. They greeted me like I had just won the lottery. It was like I had been there for years. I felt right at home. Just a very first class organization. I’m ready to get back up there again."

Giants 101: "What type of role do you see yourself having for the Giants this coming season?"

Brian Witherspoon: "First and foremost, I want to make my mark on special teams. This being my first full season with the team, I would also like to make my mark as a corner. I want to be known as corner and compete player."

Giants 101: "Fondest NFL memory?"

Brian Witherspoon: "My fondest memory is actually not on the field. My rookie year with Jacksonville, I had to do an impression of Derrick Harvey (Jacksonville defensive end), like a one man skit. It had everybody rolling for two weeks after."

Giants 101: "If you could be a part of one team in NFL history which would it be?"

Brian Witherspoon: "The 1972 Dolphins. Being perfect is something that everyone strives for and it is extremely hard."

Giants 101: "Where do you see yourself in three years?"

Brian Witherspoon: "As Giant, fulfilling my role on the team and living my dream playing in the NFL."

Giants 101: "If you could say one thing to the fans concerning the lockout what would it be?"

Brian Witherspoon: "Keep your head up, just hang in there. We (the players) are just as anxious as you guys are. Were ready to get back and put on a show for y’all. Just hang in there."

Giants 101: "Do you have any parting words for Giants fans?"

Brian Witherspoon: "Be on the lookout for Brian Witherspoon this year. I’ve been pushing my body harder than ever before, training harder. Just be on the lookout for Brian Witherspoon."
