New York Giants’ Tom Coughlin Believes Jason Pierre-Paul Will Play Again in 2013

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was officially ruled out against the San Diego Chargers on Friday, making it the second consecutive week he's been unable to play as a result of a lingering shoulder injury. And while both he and the team are trying to avoid a season-ending Injured Reserve (IR) designation, time is rapidly running out for him to return to the field.

However, when asked point blank if JPP will, indeed, play again in 2013, head coach Tom Coughlin was equally as blunt in his response.

"Yes," Coughlin said, failing to elaborate further when asked if JPP was going to play again this season.

Meanwhile, JPP has been doing anything and everything in an effort to return from his lingering shoulder injury — everything save for surgery. In fact, he's recently taken to acupuncture in an effort to alleviate some of the pain in hopes of making it back this season.

"I’m taking it day-by-day. I’m in the training room 24/7. Even at home I’m doing rehab. I’m doing everything that I possibly can to put me back on the field," JPP said, adding that the acupuncture does help. "It does help. I’ve been experiencing it and it does help."

After Sunday's game against the Chargers, the Giants will have only three more remaining this season, assuming they don't make the playoffs. So if he's to return, JPP will have to do it soon.

A bad shoulder is what ruined Tuck in ’09 and has nagged him ever since. Shoulders are really hard to rehab. They should just shut him down. 2013 is over. Time to focus on ’14

What I’m hearing is that JPP was showing more in practice than Hakeem Nicks was during the Dallas week. Allegedly.
