Last week, Da'Rel Scott was cut from the New York Giants after going through some early season struggles and failing to be able to do the job as a running back on the field.
However, due to David Wilson's uncertain status for Thursday night's Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears, the Giants needed running back depth just in case he couldn't go, so on Monday, the Giants decided to re-sign Scott, as Dan Graziano from ESPN New York reported.
Because the Giants will have to find a way to clear a roster spot for him, the signing will likely become official on Tuesday, as someone could either be released or one of the injured players could end up being placed on season-ending injured reserve; backup tight end Adrien Robinson and starting center David Baas are potential candidates if the team feels that their injuries have not progressed enough to keep them on the active roster.
Wilson left Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a neck injury and never returned to the game and was not able to practice for the Giants on Monday, thus leading to Scott being re-signed to the team and being given a second chance to compete for playing time along Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox.
In four games, Scott has rushed for 56 yards on 16 carries along with 10 catches for 98 yards and a touchdown.
