The last time anyone saw David Carr, he was one of the surprising cuts for the New York Giants at the end of the preseason in late August and has been sitting at home, waiting for an opportunity to present itself to get back into the league.

Just before Week 5, Carr's opportunity may have finally presented itself, as Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports has reported that Carr will work out for the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday.

"With Jake Locker banged up, the Titans will work out free agent QB David Carr tomorrow, per a source," he tweeted.

The Titans need for another quarterback became a great need when Jake Locker suffered a hip injury in the team's 38-13 win over the New York Jets and will miss at least 4-6 weeks recovering from the hit that he took at the hands of Muhammad Wilkerson and Quinton Coples and may land on the short-term injured reserve with designation to return in the 2013 season.

The Titans used veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick to finish the game, but he was the only other quarterback listed on the roster, so it made sense for Titans head coach Mike Munchak to look at other options at the quarterback position, especially one like Carr, who can legitimately help the team.

The former number one overall pick of the 2002 NFL Draft has been a member of the Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers along with the Giants and lost the backup spot on the team to Curtis Painter in the preseason, although fans were surprised because Painter played worse than Carr, yet Carr was the one released from the team.

Either way, if all goes well for the 34-year-old veteran, he could be signed by the end of the day and potentially playing for the 3-1 Titans in Week 5 when they face the 4-0 Kansas City Chiefs at LP Field.

jimstoll, you made a great point in the last article…. are we better than 0-4? absolutley not! honestly tell me when the last time this team had a drive? seems to me that every pass is a long pass? why cant we do a bubble screen? i knew the game was over when on 3 and 1 we run a toss play and lose a yard! i recently got a espn update on my phone and i was praying that i would read that KG gets relieved of his play calling duties. david wilson to me played decent and spencer paysinger is very good!
