New York Giants’ Terrell Thomas Discusses Comeback After Three ACL Tears: Video

As the 2013 regular season rapidly approaches, New York Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas continues to work hard in an effort to return after suffering three ACL tears, including two of which were back-to-back. It's something only one player in NFL history has ever done, and T2 is determined to join that exclusive club.

Earlier this week, Thomas sat down with Laura Okmin of FOX Sports to talk about the struggles he had emotionally coming back from his third torn ACL.

One thing fans can take away from this incredible interview is the emotional toll is takes on a professional athlete who suffers such a major injury. And not just once. Not just twice. But three times.

We often get hung up on a numbers game and view NFL players as these supreme beings, but at the end of the day, they are no different from you or I. And for anyone who has played sports on any level, you'll know that there's nothing worse than being sidelined due to injury. Add onto that, that on a professional level, it's the difference between supporting your family and not being able to, and it becomes almost unbearable.

"I cried from Florida to California because I've never, ever left his side when he went down," Thomas' Mother, Teressa, said. "As a Mom, to leave him in this particular mindset, is really, really hard. … It was scary. I was scared for my son."

It's a harrowing reminder of what these athletes endure, not just physically, but mentally as well. And for T2's sake, we here at Giants 101 wish him the very best and hope he comes out and has an incredible, career-resurrecting season.
