New York Giants’ Keith Rivers Doing MMA-Style Workouts with Jay Glazer, Chuck Liddell

Jay Glazer is known for conducting some of the most intense workouts NFL players have ever experienced. In fact, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported back in 2010 that some of the workouts are so difficult that they've made (unnamed) players quit on the program. Luckily for the New York Giants, linebacker Keith Rivers is not one of those men.

Note: The video below, which was shot in May of 2010 when Rivers was a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, is NSFW.

Rivers recently returned to work with Glazer, as well as former UFC champion Chuck Liddell, Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis and a number of others. The hope being, of course, that these workouts help keep him healthy and on the field.

The former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker admitted earlier this offseason that health is a concern and the perception is that he can't remain productive due to injuries. In other words, as Rivers put it, he has to prove that he can stay healthy.

“Anytime you step on the field you have something to prove – me, more so,” Rivers said in mid-March. “Obviously, I have to prove I can stay healthy. I haven’t necessarily been able to be trusted to stay healthy. Hopefully, taking a big rest this offseason will help me do that.”

Whether or not these workouts can keep Rivers healthy is open to speculation due to his past, but the reality is they certainly couldn't hurt. Many NFL players swear by Glazer's workouts, so perhaps they will finally help Rivers reach that next level.

If, IF, these linebackers pan out this season, wouldn’t they jump up to the best second level this team has had in decades?

Tack on Bishop, if he signs, and we just may be on to something here.

    On paper, of course.

You like popcorn BBWC, you gotta get it ready……………………..

I agree. And good for Rivers. Hopefully he can build his strength and flexibility enough to keep him on the field a full season. His athleticism jumped out at me the limited time I saw him in the first Cowturd game last year. But I saw nothing special after that. Most likely because he was once again hurt.

It would be special if he and Curry played up to potential.
The linebacker unit would be deep and flexible beyond belief. Rivers is a big fast dude. He could be a playmaker if he can remain physically fit.

If the Giants are still in the hunt for Bishop then either the Giants are willing to part with more than vet minimum and see a problem with the linebackers OR Bishops agent is using the Giants to extract more money elsewhere – no really ? how underhanded !
