New York Giants Waive RB Jeremy Wright (Louisville)

In a move that went relatively unnoticed, the New York Giants waived rookie running back Jeremy Wright (Louisville) on Friday, leaving them with an open roster spot that was not immediately filled.

The significance of this move is not so much that they parted ways with the former Cardinal, but that they now have only 89 men on their roster. And with the third and final round of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) scheduled to begin on June 3rd, an additional transaction is imminent — perhaps a veteran fullback?

The team worked out both Mike Cox (Atlanta Falcons) and Tony Fiammetta (New England Patriots) earlier this week, but neither left with a contract. However, with Henry Hynoski out with a knee injury, the team is said to be very intrigued by Cox despite their public support for Bear Pascoe.

Wright, meanwhile, still had a year of eligibility at Louisville, but declared for the NFL Draft early. He was obviously bypassed and ended up signing with the Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent in late April.

The NCAA should let this kid play his last year of eligibility.

The NCAA would never allow this, because they are run by a bunch of sick, corrupt scumbags.

Dirt does not watch NCAA competitions due to the character of aformentioned organization.

I go away for a week to get married, only to return to find that there is NOTHING happening in the world of Giants Nation. Cruz and Nicks are still sitting out OTAs? I wonder how pissed off that makes Eli, whose statements this offseason indicate that he wants to sharpen up a passing attack that faultered in 2012? We know how much it pisses of Coughlin, and now we gotta wonder if this behavior will be repeated by JPP next offseason.

Ugh. Come on Reese…things are getting too interesting over here…

Bear Pascoe is listed as a TE, there is no other FB on the team.
Henry packs a 266lbs block, and I hope his recovery is coming along well.
I hope, Cox or Fiammentia, both 6’0 250lbs, gets another look, at least for camp, as several plays will require someone to play FB, and Tony only has four years, Cox 6 years, but I’ll leave the “who can block better” to the coaches, just hope they sign someone, as I expect Pascoe does as well.
