Ever since the NFL incorporated the standardized Super Bowl logo in 2011, anticipation of the annual unveil has been less than titillating. 2013 has been no different, and although much has been made about the big game being held outdoors in a cold weather stadium, excitement over the logo has been nearly nonexistent. Alas, the release came and went on Saturday without much fanfare.

Still, there are those out there who would be interested in seeing what Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium has in store, and we at Giants 101 live to please. Accordingly, we would like to share with you the brand new Super Bowl XLVIII logo courtesy of

As you can see, this is the first Super Bowl logo since Super Bowl XLV that features any sort of customization or localization. And although not much, it is a drastic improvement upon the plain jane look from each of the last three years.

The image clearly depicts MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey as well as both the Empire State Building and the Freedom Tower in New York City.

Big fan of the Murphy signing. I know he’s not going to be any more than a #4 receiver here…but he is VERY solid depth. Definitely could play the #3 role in the case of an injury. I’ve spent a lot of time around the Raiders over the past couple of years – this guys teammates really liked him, and if they had a decent QB (he left before Palmer really got up there) then he would’ve continued to put up numbers. Nicks, Cruz, Randle, Murphy, Jernigan and a late rounder/UDFA is a pretty solid receiving corps. I really just hope we can lock Cruz down so he doesn’t hold out in training camp.
