There are still four days to go before the New York Giants face the Philadelphia Eagles in the final game of the regular season, and already tight end Travis Beckum has been declared out.
Beckum, who has been dealing with issues resulting from a torn ACL suffered in Super Bowl XLVI, has played in 13 games this season, but not had much of an impact. He's missed a significant amount of practice time, and was held out last week against the Baltimore Ravens.
On the season, Beckum has been targeted 10 times and has five receptions for 93 yards and one touchdown.
Giants Sign Bing to Practice Squad
The Giants announced a minor roster move on Wednesday, revealing that they had signed defensive back Brandon Bing to their practice squad.
If the name sounds familiar, it should. The former Rutgers product was a member of the Giants practice squad a year ago and with the team during training camp this year.
Prior to signing with the Giants in 2011, Bing spend time with both the Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills.

Sad really. I don’t think they ever made a serious attempt to use him in the manner every scout and personnel guy in the universe thought he should be used. Who knows what might have been.
Are you saying that his injuries have been caused by his misuse by the team?
No, not talking his many injuries. But when he came into the NFL he was considered an H-back/TE hybrid. Not a traditional in-line blocker. We didn’t take advantage of the possibilities. Instead we stoned him for his poor blocking … which no one expected him to be able to do …where we should have used him in creative ways that played to his strengths.
This is typical of this coaching staff.
JPP, Victor Cruz and Chris Snee all made the pro bowl for the NYG.

Certainly was’t based on their 2012 campaigns.
Couple of things:
1. Looking like Diehl will get cut this offseason. 4.1 million is way too much.
2. Looking like Webster will either have to take a pay cut or be cut. Again, 7 million way too much.
3. Bennett says contract extension talks haven’t begun, but wants to come back, and might consider a ”hometown discount”.
4. Nicks said he wants to try and get an extension done this offseason. He may also need surgery. Also, said there’s a chance he may not play Sunday.
