Through 14 weeks of the season, the New York Giants have had precious few 1:00 PM EST starts. In fact, to date, they've only had four. And with that part schedule now out of the way, many fans were looking forward to three consecutive weeks of 1:00 PM starts. Unfortunately, they're not going to get it as the NFL announced on Monday that it has flexed the Giants' week 16 game against the Baltimore Ravens -a game which will air on FOX- to 4:25 PM EST.
The flex occurred largely because the New York Jets-San Diego Chargers Sunday Night Football game has little significance at this point, so it was demoted in favor of the San Francisco 49ers-Seattle Seahawks game. Accordingly, that pushed the Giants to a 4:25 PM start.
It may not be the last game the Giants have flexed, either. The league will decide by December 24th if their week 17 game against the Philadelphia Eagles needs to be flexed out of the 1:00 PM EST slot to either 4:25 PM EST or, dare we say, one of the final two primetime slots.
The Giants week 15 game against the Atlanta Falcons was not touched and will remain a 1:00 PM EST start.
