It will come as no surprise to anyone who saw the injury (brace yourself if you haven't), but Mike Garafolo of USA Today is reporting that New York Giants offensive lineman Sean Locklear will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a very serious knee injury during a 17-16 loss to the Washington Redskins on Monday night.
The source told USA Today that at the very least it's a "very serious knee sprain," but in all likelihood, Locklear tore his ACL and possibly more than that.
Diehl, who was the starting right tackle when the season began, will now re-assume that role.
"I'm definitely healthy enough," said Diehl. "Sean deserved to start. I didn't practice fully until Friday because of my injury from the last game. But I'm definitely ready to go."
Despite mixed expectations, Locklear revitalized his career with several strong performances this season. He gave the Giants everything he had and more. Hopefully the brutal nature of his injury is not career-threatening and he'll be able to return to the NFL next year if he so desires.
