NFL Pro Bowl voting has begun and so far New York Giants' Victor Cruz leads all NFC wide receivers with 257,016 votes. Cruz has become a fan favorite for his performance on the field and his signature salsa touchdown dance.
The Giants had once gone 41 seasons without having a receiver selected to the Pro Bowl, but it now it appears Cruz will be their second receiver voted to the Pro Bowl in the last four years – the other being Steve Smith in 2009.
Last season Cruz broke the franchise receiving record for accruing 1,536 yards. He's following up that performance this year with 60 receptions for 743 yards and seven touchdowns with six games remaining.
Overall Cruz is third in Pro Bowl votes of any player in the NFC. The other leading vote getters in the NFL are Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Arian Foster, Aaron Rodgers, Adrian Peterson, A.J. Green, Rob Gronkowski, Matt Ryan and Drew Brees.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning is fifth in the NFC in votes for quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Robert Griffin III are all currently ahead of him. Ironically the Giants have to face all four of them in their remaining six games.
The Pro Bowl will be held on January 27, 2013, a week before the Super Bowl, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Support your Giants and cast your Pro Bowl ballot at NFL.com before voting ends the at night on November 17.
