It wouldn't be New York Giants-Philadelphia Eagles week without a little jawing between Osi Umenyiora and LeSean McCoy! In fact, their back-and-forth has been so extensive in recent years that ESPN has decided to feature it on an all new episode of E:60 which aired Tuesday night at 7:00 PM EDT.
In a press release sent out by ESPN, the Eagles running back refers to Umenyiora as a "ballerina" who just happens to wear blue.
“Osi, to be honest, he is a good player. I think he thinks he’s better than what he really is. I think he’s a ballerina in a Giants uniform, but other than that that’s all I got to say about Osi," McCoy said.
Only … that's not all McCoy had to say. No real surprise there, right? He continued by saying the ongoing feud, which has seemed comical at times, is 100% real, and the hate between the two is legitimate.
“Yeah this is for real — like I don’t like Osi,” McCoy said according to an ESPN press release. “I don’t know how he feels. He might think it’s a game, but I don’t play them type of games. So every time on the field I would say stuff to him like ‘You is a bum … You are the third best defensive lineman on the defense.’ Which I didn’t lie. Wait, I did lie. He’s the fourth now, so I actually did lie.”
Umenyiora, who has often taken potshots at McCoy, refused to engage in the latest round of banter. Rather than firing off and calling him Lady Gaga or wishing him another Happy Mother's Day, Chief Osi took the high road … kind of.
“I might be a ballerina in a Giants uniform,” Umenyiora said. “I’m lucky I got the contract (a restructured deal that will pay him about $6 million this season). I’m lucky to be playing 10 years in the league, to have won two Super Bowls. All that is pure luck and I’m happy for him, I’m happy he got his contract and I’m happy everything is working out well for him in Philadelphia.”
Teammate Antrel Rolle said on WFAN Tuesday that he fully expects Umenyiora to let his play do the talking this Sunday night, and that the defensive end will be going all out.
For the Eagles, this is the second time they've engaged in a verbal assault on the Giants since Saturday night when Trent Cole said a deer is more athletic than quarterback Eli Manning.
