The thing about Grant is that he’s probably the best bet for what we really need. Never mind the fact that the 3rd safety sees a whole hell of a lot of playing time under our current defensive scheme. What’s really important is that he would be a far better replacement for Rolle or Phillips should either of them miss some time. I’d love it if Sash or Hill or Jackson could step up huge early and prove that they can be relied upon. But the likelihood of either UDFAs doing that is very small, and with Sash missing 25% of the season right off the bat, there is just no way that we run the risk of having a CC Brown/Aaron Rouse fiasco again.

Bring Grant in and make all the nobodies beneath him on the depth chart earn their spot. That’s the way it works when you’re drafted in the 6th round and get suspended, or go undrafted entirely because of verifiable character concerns.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but it does not take Dick Tracey to figure out what is going on here.

    Couple this article:

    with this:

To sum it up. He said he was prescribed adderral by a doctor because he had anxiety. That is ridiculous considering adderral is pretty much amphetamine salts or a couple steps away from meth. It is for ADHD and is a stimulant. I am not buying his story.

If Sash has a decent camp they’ll keep him around anyway. While he is serving his suspension, he doesn’t take up a roster spot. So look for somebody like Hill to stick on the final 53, plus another teamer who could clear waivers and be signed to the practice squad after Sash’s suspension.

This, plus the T2 developments, probably means we keep 4 safeties after all. Not 3 plus an extra corner.
