With their sixth (239th overall) and final pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants have selected defensive tackle Markus Kuhn from North Carolina State.
Kuhn has a unique blend of size and speed, having posted a 4.89 40-yards dash, while managing 28 reps at 225 lbs. He also measured a 34.5'' vertical. However, he would be considered another raw/developmental pick for the Giants due to lack of experience, having only started one season for the Wolfpack.
"[He's] the Mitch Petrus of defensive tackles," said General Manager Jerry Reese. "A gym rat."
The 25-year-old Kuhn is only the third European-trained player to be drafted in NFL history.
With the NFL Draft complete, the Giants now have 80 players on their roster. This will allow them to sign at least 10 undrafted rookie free agents (pending any addition free agent signings) now that the NFL training camp roster(s) have been expanded from 80 to 90.
Big Blue will need at least one quarterback for rookie mini-camp, so be on the lookout for players like Albany QB Dan Di Lella.
How would you grade the Giants' draft overall?

Austin is being put on notice, at least a little.
By a seventh round pick?
Don’t think so.
With this and the Rodgers addition
Rogers has nothing to do with Austin.
He was brought in to take Bernard’s role.
3 straight projects. They have to feel that their needs were addressed and they could afford long term developmental players.
Most players are projects in day 3
Looks like his trick is penetration. Interior pressure.
All the offensive tackles must have been gone so Reese had to settle for a DT instead.
No, this kid had flashes of being able to push the pocket. 4.5 sacks … 9.5 TFLs. They’re going to see if they can get him bigger and coach him up over the next year or 2. He’s practice squad material … or maybe phantom IR. He’s at least 1 year away from doing anything in a game.
Rotational DT is his ceiling. Think replacement for Rogers in a year … maybe 2. We’ve got Canty, Linval, and Austin … this kid’s shot is to be #4.
Polk has a shoulder issue. Most teams took him off their boards.
My question should have included if this kid plays well in preseason. With Rodgers if this kid is a surprise like williams last year then I just wondering. I highly doubt it just wondering.
Practice squad.. Ahhhh an entire year until next time ;(
There are still undrafted free agents. We got 3 players last year so that may just as important as the last few rounds of the draft.
Definitely … Victor Cruz is proof of that.
Yeoman work once again this year, Sam.
Time to take yourself a much deserved vacation so you will be fresh as a daisy for the run-up to next year’s draft.
Good thing you just found yourself a new job. The workplace is always a good venue for catching up on one’s sleep, in my experience.
It would be sweet if the Colts took Vontaze Burfict last … crowning him Mr. Irrelevant.
With the Giants’ final two picks, Reese selected a tuba player and a European.
