New York Giants are Underdogs No More

Like it or not, the New York Football Giants are no longer the underdogs. The last two weeks have definitely shown this through almost every media outlet and the fact the New England Patriots are only three-point favorites. Technicality from Vegas, perhaps—based on what may very well be the 9-7 record New York won the NFC East with.

The Giants players seem to seriously thrive on being underestimated at most skill positions and as a team. However, their focus has them unfazed by the recent flip-flop of most of America. The Big Blue Faithful, in their passionate and sometimes in-your-face ways aren’t having this, though. The fanbase is “calling out” every doubter and hater in true fact-based fashion. Gotta love die-hards. Not too many are safe from being outed either—as this includes the obligatory bandwagon fans that hop on the proverbial winning train, brand spankin’ new Giants gear in tow; bless their souls.

There’s another side to this. Every season, there’s a demand for respect…a stat-laden dissertation on why the Giants are worthy of being spoken of as a top-ten team. Eli Manning debates have gone on since his first year as a starter in 2005. Each season since, #10 gave more reasons as to why Ernie Accorsi made the correct decision in April of 2004. Hey, the “elite” arguments will never really go away, it appears, but why do some despise the fact that Deion Sanders, et al “Believe in Eli!”?

Easy E couldn’t have thrown for almost 5K yards this current season without the proper protection (eventually) either. The big guys up front need lovin’ too. Their protection gives our offensive captain time in the pocket while also allowing the wideouts and receiving tight-ends to run their routes and get open. A few weeks ago, most were complaining about alleged Pro Bowl snubs, so why so fickle now?

On the contrary, on Perry Fewell’s defensive side of the ball, the accolades are somehow welcomed. The enthusiasm for a powerful “Wreckin’ Crew” will always be desired in the Big Blue fanatic—always has been. It’s this intense side of the line of scrimmage that has drawn many a fan in for decades.

Could this adverse reaction to the recent media love just be the old-school ways being seriously awakened in every superstitious addict that fears any change in the Big Blue blueprint will disrupt what some are chalking up to destiny (again)? Oh, and to do this right before the biggest and most important game ever played this season…make matters worse, much?

How about the “All In” factor? The New York Football Giants have bonded over this mantra and put forth some of their best football to get to Indianapolis. Their focus is to finish.

Our focus should be the Giants…

So its been a couple of years since I posted on here but I still read every article and the comments religiously every day. I just wanted to say I’m PUMPED for the game today (tomorrow my time). In Australia we usually get a customary single article in the newspaper telling the result of the super bowl, but that’s about it (unless another aussie punter has made the playoffs). The past 2 days however I have seen articles on both Eli and Kiwi, so its just added to the excitement.
Thankfully I have been spared the bulk of what most of you have had to go through media wise these past 2 weeks, just picking up bits and pieces of it here and there.
No matter the result of the game I know I will be proud of how the team has faced adversity, this season more than most. I will be grateful of the opportunities they have taken with both hands, and grateful of Dan and co continuing to put together such a fantastic product every day which keeps me and countless others so informed and involved in Giants’ football. GO GIANTS!!

Some warehouses have already sold Patriots Super bowl XLVI gear to Pats fans. Which is worse?

      • Terence CAVILLGIANTT says:

I remember the time that the Pats winners t shirts were given to relief orgs in South America after super bowl 42 – the journalist traced them and there is a bunch of people walking around with NE patriots SB winners

    GIANTT:

The NFL put a statement out last night taking the fall for that. They said teams always prepare those pages prior the Championship Games and the Super Bowl and that when they went to transfer the Giants page over to the NFL.com servers, the inadvertently made it public for awhile.

So who is going to be posting here during the game? Should I bring my laptop to the party I am going to?
