After the New York Giants put down the Green Bay Packers Super Bowl hopes yesterday, a stunned Packers locker room turned out to be more supportive of Big Blue, than angry. Specifically, according to the New York Post, Packers defensive tackle, B.J. Raji, explained that he believed the Giants have a chance to beat the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game next weekend.
Raji stated:
“I think so … Anytime you can come in here against what I thought was the best team in the league and completely dominate almost the entire game, you’ve got a chance … They’ve got playmakers, and if they continue to make plays, they’re going to be a tough out for any team. I wish them luck."
With playmakers getting red hot, such as, Eli Manning, Hakeem Nicks, Jason Pierre-Paul, Michael Boley, and Osi Umenyiora (among so many others), this is not actually the most shocking of all comments. The Giants offensive and defensive performances have been outstanding over the last month and are earning every bit of every win.
However, Raji had more to add, commenting:
“I see some definite parallels with us last year, with them coming into the No. 1 seed’s home and winning. The Giants took it to us and get to play on, and we’ll be watching."
Interestingly, the Giants did the same thing in their Super Bowl run in 2007, beating the No. 1 seed, Dallas Cowboys, before taking down the Packers, all of which occurred on the road.
Additionally, Packers legend, Charles Woodson, added similar sentiments, noting:
“That’s the way this game goes: When a team gets hot, it’s hard to slow them down. They’re getting hot at this particular time, so they’re going to be tough to beat."
The Giants have certainly hit their stride at an extremely opportune time and it seems that other teams are finally noticing it. Amazingly, the media is even noticing, with shows like ESPN's Sportsnation going as far as to say that Eli Manning is better than Peyton Manning (said by Colin Cowherd on today's show).
In any event, hats off to the Green Bay players for taking the high road and offering up some praise after such a devastating and undoubtedly shocking loss.
NOTE: According to ESPN's Rachel Nichols, Packers wide receiver, James Jones, told his parents (who live in northern California) to not come to last night's game and "just wait until the NFC Championship game."

So the league (according to Kim Jones) has issued an apology to the Giants for the officiating.
Who cares? You want to do something about it that means anything, then get rid of that crew forever. They already cost Seattle a championship (and handed it to Big Ben Rapelsberger) and tried their best to eliminate the Giants yesterday.
They are either corrupt or incompetent. Either way they are an embarrassment. Too bad that there are others just like them that will not be as noticed. The NFL has a real officiating problem on its hands. It has to be intelligently addressed.
Hard to hate the Packers. They win and lose with class.
As to Raji and the Pack. They are a class bunch. Frankly, they’re my second-favorite team in the NFL. My third fav is the Niners. And my fourth is the Ravens.
So I am devoutly hoping that the Giants will manage to eliminate in one season all of my next three favorite teams along with three of those (Eagles, Cowboys and Jets) that are among my four most-hated (the jets are nowhere near the level of contempt I have for the Saints).
In looking at this team over the last six games they’ve played (and understanding the game against the Skins was a stinker, but apparently an aberration this time around), it’s a lot easier to point out players who have not played quite well rather than those who have. The numbers are a lot smaller.
I think Jake Ballard took a step back once he was injured. Give him a pass for playing on a damaged knee.
I think David Baas has been quite inconsistent. Boothe had a tough game yesterday but has been otherwise fine, so I think Baas gets the only black mark on the O-line.
Ware hasn’t done a lot, but hasn’t been too bad. Scott continues to be useless and a likely camp casualty next summer.
Tollefson has continued to play hard but hasn’t had a lot of impact of late. Still, he adds valuable depth and can’t be said to have been bad except in comparison to the rest of the D-line.
Ross has continued to be a bit shaky at times but the worst one can say about him is that he has given up a few plays but nothing big (even though he COULD have been beaten deep three times in the past six games, he wasn’t thanks to a hard rush from the D-line).
Weatherford has not been quite as good in the playoffs as he was at his peak this season, but has been good enough.
We still cannot get a punt return so I give a demerit to the entire punt-return group.
That’s it. Pretty thin gruel. Everyone else is playing very good ball. If they keep that level of excellence up no one will beat them.
Ive never been so proud of this group!
I know this is beating a dead horse but the officials yesterday were plain AWFUL!!! 2 have bad calls AGAIN in the packer giant game is a bit much and not 1 went the giants way! Funny thing is greg jennings was involved in the 2 most blatently obvious calls 2 me. 1 being the touchdown catch where he still has no control…when the pack played n ny…. And yest when he fumbled it. For those plays to be looked at in replay and still have the play stand smells real fishy 2 me. Phantom holding calls roughing the passer… All is fishy. Not 1 call goes our way. Eli took a beating after the ball was out of his hand but the refs r blind to it. As in the words of the espn crew.. COME ON MAN
But 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh apparently was planning for the Packers to prevail. His father, Jack, told 790 The Zone in Atlanta that Jim had a project last week for the elder Harbaugh, a former college football coach.
“He sent me some Green Bay Packer tape and I spent a couple hours looking at that,” Jack Harbaugh said. “Those notes are moot. We just don’t have anything to do with them. I haven’t gotten my assignment for this week so we’ll see what happens.”

Your assignment is to do your part in the ceaseless media felati0 fest that is ‘Harbaugh’.
The departure of Jesus Tebow has left a Kardashian sized opening (pun intended) in the 24 hour sports news ‘hype cycle’.
This gap needs to be stuffed … nature and ESPN abhor a vacuum. So step up and get your hoovering, as the British would say.
By ‘you’ I don’t mean ‘you demo’. I was addressing Jack ‘Bruce Jenner’ Harbaugh and the media whoors who will pursue his favor.
LOL, no I got it..Very true..
For those that say the time off hurt A Rogers, what do they say of a Flynn’s numbers after many months off? Rodger’s problem was the constant concern for the pressure our D was bringing and the coverage from our secondary, period!!!
Nice Point
I know it’s a common theme with me, but … cognitive dissonance.
The Packers are the best team in football.
The Giants aren’t as good as the Packers.
The Giants beat the pants off the Packers.
Those three “truths” have to be reconciled in some way.
So … the untimely death … the layoff … dumb luck … turnovers … alien abductions … something … anything. But you can’t say that the Giants are playing better football because it goes against the “truths” … which are really “beliefs”.
You see it all over. Religion … politics … economics … all over. People cling to their beliefs … even in the face of facts … even in the absence of proof.
UFOs are real. But there’s no evidence. So the government must be hiding the evidence.
Preach!!!!
The outcome of this game was not due to the layoff or any other non-football circumstance. Teams like the Packers, Saints, and New England put so much pressure on a team offensively, that when you’re on offense, you feel extreme pressure to score on every possession. You either try to do things that you don’t normally do, and you make mistakes that they are then able to turn into more points, and then you just collapse under all that pressure. Or you fall behind early and can’t catch up.
People are pointing to the previous game against GB now, and saying that gave us a lift. While I’m sure it gave us some confidence, what I think it really did was to put the idea in the heads of the GB brain trust that THEY had to chase points in this game. Hence the on-side kick in the second quarter, and all of the deeper routes the GB receivers were running. Their running game was working much better than ours, but they pretty much abandoned it pretty early in favor of the pass.
The Packers are a front-running team. They don’t respond well to pressure. We came out and moved the ball well and put points up early. They saw the previous game all over again and in their own minds they were convinced they were playing catch up. They folded under that pressure, pure and simple.
BJ Raji is a class act by the way.
