This past Monday night, New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck said on the radio that teammate Osi Umenyiora suffered a “little setback” during Sunday’s 31-14 win over the Dallas Cowboys, but his comment seemed to fall on deaf ears. Little was mentioned again about this alleged setback…until Wednesday morning.
Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports that Umenyiora did, in fact, suffer a setback on his previously sprained ankle.
“It was hurting a little bit, but I wasn’t coming out of the game,” Umenyiora said after the game.
A source told Vacchiano that Osi is playing at about “70%” right now, but he has every intention of playing this Sunday when the Giants host the Atlanta Falcons in the wildcard round of the NFC Playoffs.
Practice resumes for Big Blue today, so whether or not Umenyiora participates is something that will be made available by head coach Tom Coughlin during his weekly 11 o’clock press conference. He’s also likely to have updates on tight end Jake Ballard and linebacker Mark Herzlich, who were scheduled to resume running on Tuesday.
