A day after earning his first Pro Bowl nod, New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
Pierre-Paul earned these honors by collecting five tackles and two sacks in Big Blue’s 29-14 victory over the New York Jets.
JPP, who will turn 23 on Sunday, leads all NFL defensive ends with 81 tackles on the season. He’s also amassed 15.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, six passes defended and eight stuffs. Oh yeah, he also had one extremely important blocked field goal against the Dallas Cowboys that possible saved the Giants’ season.
At the end of the day (royalties to Antrel Rolle), Pierre-Paul should get strong consideration for Defensive Player of the Year honors.
