At times, it feels like not a day goes by that New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan takes a stab at big brother, New York Giants.
The obsession has become unbearable for the Giants and their fans, and has led to some rather interesting verbal battles in recent years. Still, as Big Blue continues to look forward and take each week as it comes, Ryan and Gang Green can't seem to shift their full focus away from the New York Giants. The inferiority complex completely prevents them from having the sort of tunnel vision a successful NFL franchise requires, and we here at Giants 101 are beginning to think their infatuation has ultimately led to their inability to escape the AFC Championship game over the past two seasons.
The closer they get, the more anxious they become, knowing that with only two more steps they can finally dominate the back page and proclaim themselves queens kings of New York.
A date with Big Blue now slightly over a week away, it should come as no real surprise that Ryan has again tuned in on the New York Giants. Even when asked about scenarios involving DeSean Jackson and the Philadelphia Eagles, his envious thoughts immediately turn to the Big Blue Wrecking Crew.
"I think there are people around here that might be able to answer that question better than us," Ryan said when asked about punting to Jackson.
Ho-ho. Ha-ha. He-he.
Perhaps Ryan should do himself a favor and start putting one foot in front of the other as opposed to sticking each foot in his mouth. Get passed the Eagles, and then worry about getting stepped on by the true Kings of New York.
