Amidst a difficult three-game skid, the New York Giants will bring back five former Giants greats to be inducted into the Ring of Honor on Sunday at halftime. The troubled Giants, set to take on the undefeated Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon, will be honoring Giants greats, Mark Bavaro, Brad Van Pelt, Alex Webster, Carl Banks and Dave Jennings at halftime.
These names conjure up images of Big Blue championships and some of the more elite days in Giants history. Of course, Banks works with 660 WFAN on gameday announcing, perhaps the presence of such tremendous players will add that necessary ingredient that will spark a disheartened Giants team.
At the very least, these players should help kwell the potential boo-birds who may very well be present by halftime on Sunday afternoon. Bavaro will always be remembered as the toughest, hard-nosed tight end in Giants history. Banks and Van Pelt, both long-time Giants linebackers, are true examples of how to play the position (perhaps these young Giants linebackers can take a few notes).
Regardless, this ceremony should add some fire and motivation to a hurting Giants team, facing the best team in the NFL. A win for Big Blue would be a true upset, and would be a fitting way to thank these Ring of Honor inductees for their years of tremendous production and performance.
