The MRI on the most important hamstring in the greater New York area turned up good news, as both Ralph Vacchiano and Mike Garafolo quote a source as saying Hakeem Nicks suffered no structural damage and is “all good.”
Vacchiano reports the source said “the plan is to not miss anything,” which means Nicks would be a go on Sunday against the New England Patriots, despite saying after yesterday’s game that his gut feeling was that the strain would keep him out a week. We’re not doubting our beat writers or their source’s interpretation of the MRI, but we’d like to hear Nicks himself say it felt a lot better when it woke up this morning.
While Nicks at 75 percent is still better than most NFL wide receivers, the thought of rushing him back and losing him for extended time seems like worst case scenario. Rest assured, we’ll keep you updates on Hakeem’s Hammy all week.
{The Giants may get Nicks back for the Pats game but have definitely lost a cornerback with Justin Tryon hitting injured reserve with a broken arm. Check out the case we made for signing former Patriots cornerback Leigh Bodden.}
