In a somewhat strange development, it appears that New York Giants backup quarterback, Sage Rosenfels, has been hospitalized with a bad case of strep throat. He is currently being treated at a hospital in Hackensack, NJ, according to Zach Berman of the Newark Star Ledger.

Rosenfels is the primary backup to Eli Manning, with newly signed (again) David Carr, and pre-season fan favorite, Ryan Perrilloux

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Rosenfels has been battling the strep since last weekend, and perhaps even played with it on Saturday against the Carolina Panthers. Regardless, it is somewhat unusual for something like strep to go on this long, so it’s likely that the Giants erred on the side of caution and sent him for formal treatment.

The thoughts of the Giants 101 community is with Sage and we will provide any updates as we receive them.
