I still have a Sam Garnes jersey.

Now that we’re starting to get posters drifting back and new ones participating, where the heck is HopLax? When last heard from he was on Wall Street deep in an analyst’s hell. But that’s no excuse. Get back where you belong.

[By the way, in case you're reading but not posting, my daughter loves Hopkins and has apparently taken it a bit by storm, and based in good part on your good advice she wound up in a waterfront apartment on Fells Point outside the main tourist drag and with its own garage so parking isn't an issue...great place with a terrific water view and very easy trip to the Medical Complex. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated].

Just one question – is that Sam Garnes’ first appearance in the “tags” of an article on here?

I liked him. He probably would have played better than CC Brown last year if we woke him up with a phone call at 9:30am on game day.

And just for the record with all the predictions going around. I have us much improved over last year, but still going 9-7 – 11-5.

Wins: CAR, CHI, DET, @DAL, @SEA, JAX, WAS, PHI, @WAS
    Losses: @IND, TEN, @HOU, DAL, @PHI, @MIN, @GB

That’s 9-7 and I think worst case scenario. TEN, HOU, MIN, and GB all possible victories (especially if GB has a seed wrapped up week 16). I think best case scenario is we win two of those and get to 11-5.

your prediction may be right; but if it is, it means we mostly beat bad teams and mostly lose to good teams

      • jfunk says:

Admittedly so (although I consider PHI and DAL to be good teams too).

So basically, if we win only against the “bad teams”, while still managing a split with our two best division foes, we get to 9-7. Barring injury (obviously unpredictable) or total collapse, I see this as the worst case scenario.

If we snag two of those games I have marked as losses, that will roughly be going .500 vs. “good” teams, which I think is probably as much as should honestly be EXPECTED of this team.

As with most years, there will probably be a surprise win against a team I didn’t list (PHI or IND?), but that will probably be balanced out by a random stinker against CHI or DET.

Predictions are fine at this point of the year but this team has alot going on that we need to see before I could make a prediction of 8-8 or 12-4.

With Bradshaw starting it would allow (not expose) the O-line to be a little more innovative (not show their age as much). He is more allusive and able to make split second moves that would have a defense on their heels as compared to Jacobs who has one objective and one direction for the most part.

As far as the defense goes I am still on the ropes as far as Fewell goes (beats the hell out of Sheridan though) Ross, Webster and Thomas are press coverage guys and not “zone”. I know that this new scheme is not suppose to be a “Tampa 2″ but we need to see how this pans out in the first two weeks.

If the Defense pans out 11-5 if the struggle early and for very long (and I hate to predict this) 8-8

Word Press sucks for old guys.

    • Dirt says:

Right or wrong, he was my favorite safety of the last decade until Phillips and Rolle

  5. Dirt says:

    Interesting observation:

According to ESPN, Manningham was the 28th ranked WR (according to my fantasy league’s scoring) in 2009. Yet, he’s only owned in 39.1% of leagues.

    • jfunk says:

He’s also been bumped down a spot on the depth chart. Few #3 are hold a regular place on fantasy rosters. They just don’t get enough looks to be relied upon every week.

  6. Eric SchneiderEric S says:

Just read through Scouts Inc’s preview of the Giants-Panthers game on ESPN.com and although they pick us to win check this out.
    9. The Giants also need a No. 2 WR: Despite flashes of potential, Mario Manningham continues to disappoint, and second-year receiver Ramses Barden flashes promise but is still inconsistent when it comes to holding on to the ball. If one of these guys can step up and make plays it will do nothing but make the Giants’ version of Smith, Hakeem Nicks, even more effective.

Apparently OUR Steve Smith is neither a number 1 or number 2 WR in their evaluation, nor does he even warrant a mention. In fact, they gave the Panthers the edge in the WR dept. Wow. There aren’t even words for such piss poor evaluation.

    • Dirt says:

That looks like it was written by someone missing chromasomes.

    • Dirt says:

Apparently 822 yards in your first full year in the offense as a #4 receiver (thanks Killdrive and Coughlin for starting Hixon half the season) is a disappointment for Manningham.

      • Eric SchneiderEric S says:

I love how he “continues to disappoint” as if he’s been around for so long. He’s only entering his 3rd year for God’s sake. But 822 yds and 5 td’s with 15 catches for 20+ yds is really disappointing for a guy in only his second year in the league and first full year of seeing regular snaps.

    • jfunk says:

      Wow. Just wow.

The good news is I think this means I’m qualified to be a professional analyst for cricket.

  7. Dan BentonDan Benton says:

You guys all crack e up. John Fennelly, who owns Pro Football NYC, is a big Giants guy. He works at SNY as well, where I will also pop up from time to time.

It just happens to be that, as you may expect, the Jets guys are always more vocal than the Giants guys.

I don’t think I’ll be able to avoid bringing up this conversation today though.

    • Matthew Kiernankujo says:

      More vocal or better represented?

I’m telling you, I have almost never seen an article about the Giants get promoted on the Facebook page they have. To the point where I mentioned it to them in an email that never elicited any response.

  8. Dan BentonDan Benton says:

Also, for those of you that insist Matt Mosley isn’t a Giants fan…he picked them to go to the Super bowl.

Only ESPN personality that picked them for the SB.
