Giants, DT Linval Joseph Make It Official (Reportedly)

The Giants have come to terms with second-round pick DT Linval Joseph, according to an Adam Schefter (ESPN) tweet.

According to Schefter’s tweet, the deal locks up the East Carolina big boy for four years, although no financial aspects have been reported. The Giants have yet to comment, but Schefter doesn’t have any reason to jump the gun here.

Joseph, although considered raw and developmental, will get a chance to compete for snaps as a rookie. At 330 pounds, it’s not out of the question that Joseph will get a chance to throw his weight around early on in his career. Conventional wisdom has him competing directly with Barry Cofield for snaps, but this writer can’t help but thinking about what kind of damage Cofield and Joseph could do lined up next to each other on running downs.

Other Notes:

  • The Giants have also signed free agent Safety John Busing.
