Non-Giants Draft Day 2 Thread

Ladies and Gents, time for round 2…and then 3. Hopefully, we won’t run into the server overloads we mysteriously had around the 8th and 9th picks last night. Tonight, there are thirteen picks ahead of Big Blue:  Do the Giants move and shake, or sit tight and grab the best player available when they’re on the clock? Does Jerry Reese throw his hat into the Albert Haynesworth market? Was Jerry Reese telling the truth about not trading Osi Umenyiora?

A brief look at the board: The MLB position still has players like Donald ButlerSean Lee and Brandon Spikes to offer. Most Giants fans probably want Lamarr Houston, but setting yourself up for that will be like the Rolando McClain debacle all over again. DT’s Terrence Cody and Brian Price will probably be available. Fringe first round talent at OT is on the board for now in Charles Brown and Roger Saffold, and the second and third rounds are deep in CB talent this year. Let’s see how Reese plays his cards.

For now, try not to set yourselves up for a particular player. As we saw last night, our server is not emotionally capable of handling such startling disappointment when those guys get ripped off the board and shipped to some backwater NFL graveyard like Oakland or Buffalo. In order to better serve the G101 community, we’re going to be opening a new thread every ten picks or so (not to mention upon any Giants trade or selection), so keep an eye out for updates.

Update: And the Rams are (again) on the clock!

33- St. Louis: Roger Saffold, OT, Indiana

34- Vikings: Chris Cook, DB, Virginia

35- Buccs: Brian Price, DT, UCLA

36- Cheifs: Dexter McCluster, RB, Ol’ Miss

37- Eagles: Nate Allen, S, USF

38- Browns: TJ Ward, DB, Oregon

39- Raiders Tampa Bay: Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois

40- Dolphins: Koa Misi, OLB, Utah

Update: New thread up top.

Mike Shanahan: “Albert Haynesworth will not be traded”
Posted by Michael David Smith on April 23, 2010 5:40 PM ET
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan was emphatic in an appearance on NFL Network Friday afternoon that he will not trade defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.

“No,” Shanahan said when asked by Rich Eisen whether there was any possibility he’d trade Haynesworth. “It’s not going to happen. There’s a lot of rumors, a lot of speculation that’s been going on here for the last month. But Albert Haynesworth will not be traded.”

So there you have it. Despite a previous report on NFL Network today saying Haynesworth would be traded, Shanahan is adamant that it won’t happen.

Which means the only way Haynesworth can be traded now is if Shanahan is lying
