With the 76th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the New York Giants have again made a quick decision, taking Chad Jones, S, LSU to go with first round selection Jason Pierre-Paul and second round pick Linval Joseph. While it’s no great shock the Giants have continued plugging defensive holes, the Giants again passed up on LB prospects to take plug a position (S) at which they signed two free agents.
As quick as the Jason Pierre-Paul pick raised concerns about Osi Umenyiora being traded, this should raise concerns about the Giants short and long-term view of Kenny Phillips’ ability to be the top-notch player he was proving to be. Perhaps Phillips is to start the season on the dreaded PUP-list?
It will be interesting to see what Reese has to say about this one…

I hate the giants! But accordin 2 ff55 I’m supposed 2 trust n reese. F that!
any info on this guy? anyone?
Chaney in the 4th please. I like jones dont know how the playing time shakes out.
Solid prospect, raw player. Definitely upside with Jones, has a lot of good physical skills and he’s a pretty complete safety.
Just don’t like that they passed up Butler, and don’t like that they went safety in round three.
Jones have return experience?
Yes
Good punt returner. Kick returns was mostly Trindon’s job.
So the 3 players we got are all raw?
Another guy who won’t play other than in specials
Chad Jones is the perfect compliment to Antrel Rolle, if Kenny Phillips has to miss significant time. Michael Johnson is a serviceable player and Deon Grant is a guy who will be rotated in and out as well. I like this pick.
Good pick
