With the general lack of news and rumors, coupled with a busy weekend and a few sick writers, G101 has fallen into a bit of a lull recently. We apologize for the short down time and can assure you we’ll be right back to the daily grind starting tomorrow.
For now, however, I’d like to catch you up on some of the recent Big Blue tidbits.
Jeff Feagles, Big Blue a wall
The New York Giants and Hall of Fame caliber punter Jeff Feagles have hit a wall during their contract discussions, according to someone with knowledge of the situation. This person also claimed the two “aren’t seeing eye-to-eye” and are very far off on a new contract.
Feagles’ agent, Steve Weinberg, says his client plans to play next season, but would not confirm nor deny contract negations with Big Blue.
“Jeff fully intends to play this year and maybe beyond that,” Weinberg said. “He’s training hard, working hard and he plans to continue his career in the National Football League.”
Feagles, on the other hand, admits negotiations are ongoing and believe he will return in 2010.
“It’s just taking a little bit of time,” Feagles told The New York Post. “It will all work itself out.”
Giants Sign Australian-Rules Punter
As a plan B, the New York Giants announced they have signed former Australian-rules punter Jy Bond.
Terms of the contract have not been released.
Flozell Adams Rule Could be Forthcoming
I’d rather not waste too much time on this pile, but I do want to share with Giants fans that a rule change may be coming as a result of Flozell Adams’ blatant cheap shot on Justin Tuck in early December.
D.J Ware & Scott Chandler Sign Tenders
Both running back D.J Ware and tight end Scott Chandler have signed their one-year tenders and will remain with the Giants for the 2010-11 season.
John Mara Supports Overtime Rule Change
Overtime rules have always been a hot topic amongst team owners and fans. Now…it may be something that could soon change.
New York Giants co-owner John Mara is one of the men in support of said change.
“I still think it’s an uphill battle because you have to get 24 votes to change it,” Mara said. “I don’t know if there are enough people around the league willing to change the current system.”
Sean Lee Will Visit Big Blue
According to Bob Flounder of The Patriot-News, soon-t0-be rookie linebacker Sean Lee (Penn State) will hold a workout for the New York Giants.
“I think each time that I work out, I prove that I’m healthy and 100 percent,” said the 6-2, 239-pound Lee, who has workouts scheduled with Atlanta, Dallas, Arizona, the New York Giants and Indianapolis.
“I think I’ve shown that I can come back from an injury. … It’s a big concern and it should be. I haven’t been healthy for the last two years.
“But now I think I’m training a little bit differently, kind of gearing more toward the weaknesses in my body, I think I’ve made some big strides.”
22 Days Until Stadium Opens to Public
In just 22 days, the brand new $1.7 billion Meadowland complex will finally be open to the public.
The most interesting figure? The old stadium was 900,000 square feet. The new stadium? Just about 2,000,000 square feet.

LoL, you are hanging out at FootballsFuture? I have that ish on lockdown
Kyle, feel free to include anything you like from me in any future piece. Just remember to occasionally acknowledge my humongous contributions to the collective wisdom of this hive!! LOL
One thing I am REALLY hoping for out of the draft is that no NFC East team gets Taylor Mays. I don’t want our receivers being exposed to him twice each season and probably again in the playoffs. All the people around the punditry who claim he’s not really a big hitter must never have seen that dude play. I watch a lot of Pac-10 games and I can tell you that Mays is a killer. I don’t want our receivers getting in his path.
Who the hell is Scott Chandler?
lol He was a pretty decent TE that played for the Iowa Hawkeyes a few years back…maybe 3-4 years ago…I liked him alot coming out of college but Im not sure where he was drafted or where he has been hiding…lol
future Hall of Fame punter Jeff Feagles…
HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahaha
Oh man that’s funny. A punter in the Hall of Fame???
HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahaha…
My point is that is Ray Guy can’t get in, Feagles stands no chance.
Yeah, the fact that Ray Guy isn’t in the HOF is a tragedy.
Yea punters just dont get in. Feagles is a HOF caliber punter maybe. He’s been fantastic. But punters just dont get in.
I wouldn’t call Guy’s omission a “tragedy” but no punters are making it in before him. Whoever wrote that sentanse should have his/her G101 credentials revoked and be barred from watching football for a couple seasons as punishment.
Calling Feagles a future HOFer might be the most ignorant statement ever made on G101 ever. It shows a complete lack of awareness to reality.
Landetta belongs in ahead of Feagles. So does Lechler, and he’s still playing.
Feagles is pinpoint, but he’s not a boomer and won’t be rememberd after he’s gone.
Perhaps the writer was referring to the G101 HOF.
Hey, if the likes of Wilkinson, Mix, and London can make it then Feagles is a shoo-in.
As far as the NFL HOF is concerned, I’d like to go on record as saying that “Bond, Jy Bond” will be the first punter ever enshrined in Canton – just by virtue of his name alone.
You really want my credentials revoked? Haha.
I was speeding through an article and not really paying attention. Regardless, I changed it to fit the mold a bit better.
Cleveland picking another ND QB after what happened with Quinn? And after they just signed Delhomme for $7 million a year? Have to say, I don’t think that’s gonna happen.
Also, I don’t think Parcells will draft a WR in the first round. I posted it a couple days ago, but the only time he ever did that was in 1996 when he was with the Pats and drafted Terry Glenn. The Pats FO apparently forced the draft pick on him, and it ended up being a main reason why he left them for the Jets.
And I really can’t see Crazy Al taking anyone other than Bruce Campbell, especially not a Guard, when they already have Gallery who’s done pretty well there. Complete bust as a LT, but he’s done an above average job as a Guard with the exception of last year when he got hurt. Carlisle is also pretty entrenched on the other side so I doubt he takes Iupati. Despite most of his shortcomings, the Crypt Keeper usually does a good job of drafting only where he has a need, but then again, he could have even become more senile than last year when he drafted Mike Mitchell in the 2nd round.
Also, I don’t see Atkins and Cody going in the 1st round, but we’ll see.
And Dan Williams sure ain’t dropping all the way to 27.
Dude’s a prototypical one-technique NT who will surely be gobbled up by one of the increasing number of 3-4 teams before then.
Sure hope so Norm because DW on the Cowboys would be tragic.
