Thanks in large part to the endless spam I can’t seem to control, we’re going to turn registration on here at G101. This mean you will be required to register and be logged in to post any comments.

To register, look to the top right of the page and click “register.”

From there, select your username and enter your e-mail address. At that point an encrypted password will be sent to you (if you do not receive it, check your spam folder).

If you would like to change your password after that, please visit the following link which explains how to do so.

Starting Monday, registration will be required to post. Thanks.

Here is the link to register and here is the link that explains how to change/alter your avatar.

    first?

    …..first!

im down with the registration but can we please please PLEASE allow some curse words here?

i agree that any racial or homophobic language should not be tolerated but b!tch a$s, fu(ck, and sh!t should be allowed. this is the internet, people, and we are all grown folks here and should be allowed to speak freely, that over moderation kinda pisses me off

    • Dan BentonDan Benton says:

The moderation is staying as it is.

And we aren’t all grown folks. That’s something I can’t seem to get across here. There are children — lots of them — who read this site.

      • dreadgiantNCdreadgiantNC says:

if a kid is old enough to go to a blogsite on the internet, dont you think he already knows all the curse words? im not tryin to harp on it but it seems a bit totalitarian…

again, this is the INTERNET, theres all sorts of parental controls, if the kid is in a household where they dont want him exposed to swearing, they would have certainly set up a site blocker or something of that nature

        • Dan BentonDan Benton says:

I understand what you’re saying, but I am still not altering the moderation.

I met everyone in the middle and eased up considerably on what I had previously had held for moderation. The reaming words and phrases are going to stay as is, however.

I think we can all discuss the New York Giants without the addition of profanity or racism and so forth.

Also, I’d prefer not to have G101 blocked due to profanity…but parents or bosses of those who read out site. Our objective is to reach as many people as we can and if certain words and phrases our preventing our site from being accessed so that a slight few can speak like truckers, well…that’s just not very productive for us.

          • dreadgiantNCdreadgiantNC says:

fair enough…but to say people who swear “speak like truckers” is pretty ridiculous. my vocabulary is expansive, but sometimes you just need a good old cuss word to get the emotion of your point across!

that said, i feel you in that you are trying to promote something and you want it to have mainstream appeal. just keep in mind that this is how all major issues of censorship start, with “decency laws”

            • Dan BentonDan Benton says:

I really don’t think my moderation is too severe.

I’ve removed the ability to use sexist slurs, racist slurs, homosexual slurs and other serious words and phrases that shouldn’t otherwise be used on here anyway.

You don’t have to censor **** or ****. It shows up.

I do sensor the f-bomb, however.

              • DirtDirt says:

Ha, you have categories of bad words to choose from in a fancy interface? My childish nature would giggle endlessly.

Damn spammers if it keeps them out I’m all for it. Second!!!! Yay

  3. Krow_WorkingKrow_Working says:

Who was spamming? OK… besides me?

    • Dan BentonDan Benton says:

You don’t count as spamming. But we’ve had TONS of spam over the last few days. Certain sites were sending out bots and they were hitting us pretty hard.

      heh heh heh…ja rule

      • Arthur Jones is coming off a serious knee injury. He does have that versatility that the Giants love though and lines up at end and tackle.

I have heard a few scouts compare him to Freeney, but I think that is more just because they both went to ‘Cuse.

Think Reese could land him in the third?

Okay Simon, where’s the article you said you were writing for this morning? lol

    • MentalHockey says:

I went to the home page and there’s nothing under the articles except links to WordPress.

  9. Attn: Mr. Dan Benton,
    Dear Dan,

I wish to thank you for putting your rules in place. I was and am pleased to see that you do not allow any swearing on your web site. If people do not know how to write correctly, then
they should not be allowed to use this site.

Thanking you in advance, I remain,

    Tom
