Just when you think things cannot get any worse for the NewYork Giants, reality rears its ugly head and it does.
According to ESPN,a recent MRI on Eli Manning‘s footrevealed what’s being called a “stress reaction“on his cuboid bone…a new injury that makes Manning susceptible to a stressfracture that would almost certainly end his 2009 season.
The report went on to state that Easy E has been seenfavoring the foot as recently as Thursday night, but added that Giants’officials are not surprised and were well aware that his plantar fasciitiscould lead to a stress reaction.
In an effort to prevent a stress fracture, Big Blue’s medicalstaff has been feverishly treating Manning, trying to keep him off his feet asmuch as possible and using a bone stimulator on the affected area.
Should Manning eventually suffer a stress fracture, it’slikely that David Carr would step inas New York’s starting quarterback.

Of the two receivers I left off the list who are in the top 10 but have a higher YPC, it’s Miles Austin (team 8-3) and Sidney Rice (team 9-1). Go figure.Furthermore, to counter my argument about Nicks not getting enough balls, you might argue “He doesn’t catch the balls that come his way”.Well, he has a higher catch-per-target rate than Randy Moss, Miles Austin, Andre Johnson, and other receivers such as the other Steve Smith, DeSean Jackson, Terrell Owens, Calvin Johnson, Roddy White, Chad Ocho Cinco, Greg Jennings, and I’m sure a bunch of others that don’t happen to fall in the top 40 receivers in the league. It is statistically indefensible that Nicks shouldn’t be the #1/#2 receiver on this team.I’ve also been arguing that Smith/Nicks/Manningham with Boss and singleback Jacobs would do wonders to avoid 8/9 men in the box, but who am I?
Honestly, on the subject of Tynes. He doesn’t let the previous misses get to him. He comes in and bangs that game winning kick after missing earlier kicks. Jay Feely couldn’t do that. A lot of kickers can’t do that.I don’t mind Tynes as our FG kicker but we need someone else to kickoff and I wouldn’t mind carrying a place kicker and a kickoff specialist b/c the field position advantage we would get would be more valuable then that 53rd man who probably wont get in the game anyway. I honestly think Tynes has the guts to kick in New York. He pisses me off when he misses ones he should make but every kicker is doing that this year. He has the strength mentally to comeback and win the game after **** up earlier.
why is everyone hung up on the 100 mil number? What is guaranteed? about 40-45? everyone gets caught up with the numbers and none of us are experts on these contracts…dont you guys think that ryan, rodgers, rivers will demand more? dont these contracts just escalate? Im not saying some of the blame shouldnt be eli’s…im just tired of hearing about the contract….Dirt that is a great point about giving 100%…there arent many men out there that would give their all if they felt the coaches werent giving their all…
Am I completely moronic? Is Hakeem Nicks catching more balls that come his way and averaging more yards per catch than Randy Moss and Andre Johnson? Can that be real? Do those two ever come off the field?Somebody PLEASE tell me what I’m missing, because it’s clearly driving me crazy.
giantsfan….I cant remember the team right now…but theres atleast one team that does that exact thing. They carry a kick off specialist and he booms it into the endzone everytime. anyone know the guy Im talking about…lol Hell there may be more than one
no dirt…you are right and theres no rhyme or reason for it.Nicks has proven over and over hes a playmaker. He should be getting 10-15 looks a game….I cant for the life of me imagine why he isnt in there. Dare I say it…he could be our new plax? haha
Wr 45.. Its pretty much all guaranteed if he plays the games. Aaron Rodgers signed for about half a year ago and Rivers signed for rest after Eli. Point being he is supposed to be one of the best QBs in the league. And he needs to be more consistent..Dirt, it doesnt matter who the WRs are when every route is a slow developing one were the play is designed to go 20+ down the field and the O-Line cant pick up a blitz to save their lives..
Wr45, both Carolina and Dallas has a KO specialist. then theres NE who has the “Space Ghost” (Steven Ghostkowski) That can both boot it into the stands AND hit every kick inside the 50..
Here’s the deal with Tynes. He’s not a good kicker for our system.”System” you ask? Of course. Just like if you have a pass heavy team you need good pass blockers but not an elite running back, or if you have a 3-4 you need a big nose tackle.Well, our system, the 1-2-3-Kick Offense, relies on driving on average 60-70 yards per drive and taking 3 whenever possible. This is supported by the fact that we lead the league in field goal attempts. So if we’re going to run such a system, we need an elite kicker. 80% from inside 40 yards doesn’t cut it in our system, not when there’s plenty of other highly compensated individuals closer to 100% within that range.
Sam- Show me the game where Peytons offensive line let free blitzers through all day long and he was running around on basically every playet had a great game? After the other night Im convinced thats what people expect from Eli but its never gonna happen, NO ONE does it
