Giants’ Sam Madison Unfairly Overshadowed

Aaron Ross has been the face of the franchise lately, and while it’sbeen warranted, that has not sat well with veteran cornerback SamMadison.

“I’ve been talking about Aaron Ross for five weeks,”Madison told a group of reporters, his voice suddenly rising almost toa shout. “I’m not answering any more questions about him.”

You can’t really blame the guy for getting annoyed, he’s taken it instride for five weeks now — all while doing everything he could totutor and guide this young and upcoming star. Unfortunately, it hasovershadowed the 180 he’s done on the field this season.

“I’ve just been in some great situations,” Madisonsaid of his improvement. “[Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo] hascalled some plays designed specifically for me. He’s allowed me to lineup with different receivers and be able to get a feel for the game. Ithink they’re happy with me.”

Giants’ fans are appreciative; they always have been. But sometimes we forget to spread the love around a bit.

Let’s face it, a large part of the Giants defensive success comesfrom Sam Madison. Imagine how different things would be if the Giantswere starting Corey Webster or R.W. McQuarters instead of him.

So at least for one day, I tip the cap to Mr. Madison. Kudos for a job well done, sir.
